Austin is a Chartered Civil & Structural Engineer with over 20 years’ experience designing and delivering construction projects of varying scales and complexities.

Over the last 20 years, Austin has been involved in every stage of a vast array of construction projects spanning large civil engineering projects, educational buildings, healthcare developments, industrial and chemical plants, marine structures, retail and residential developments.

Austin has a keen interest in conservation of old buildings and structures and has garnered extensive experience in working on protected structures over the years. In 2012 he completed a Post Graduate Diploma Course in Applied Building Repair and Conservation at Trinity College Dublin. Austin is on the Approved Traditional Building Skills Register of the Irish Georgian Society and also holds the position of Secretary of their Limerick Chapter. Austin provides expert assessment and design on historic buildings on behalf of the Office of Public Works (OPW); The Heritage Council; Limerick City & County Council; Clare County Council; Tipperary County Council; Dublin City Council and numerous private clients and community groups nationwide.

Austin is a member of Engineers Ireland Conservation Group and building Limes Forum Ireland.

Over his years of managing an engineering consultancy office, Austin knows the importance of having high quality engineers who can quickly assess the various design options available to clients and architects and to advise on the most optimal solution in each case. It is therefore imperative that the consultancy continually invests in training and software which provide the necessary tools to provide a first class service using the most up to date technologies and materials.

Having been involved in such a large variety and scale of construction projects gives Austin an in-depth knowledge of construction materials and relevant building codes which are a must for all engineers. Sharing of knowledge, experience and ideas is actively encouraged within DRA Consulting which results in an ambitious and imaginative working environment.
